EVENT REPORT: WEDNESDAY 8th JUNE 2005
Following a very successfull training day at CPR Learning Space with local teachers and staff from Cardiff University and CPR Learning Space, volunteer members of WCAS will be involved in developing observing sessions on the 2m. Faulkes telescope in Hawaii in the Autumn. These sessions will be undertaken by local secondary schools under the guidance of our society members. Society members will commence their training at the Thursday society meetings at the CPR Learning Space starting on the 16th June. This training is open to all members whether or not they are able to help out in local schools.

Each member will be provided with a tablet PC with the relevant software to plan an observing session on the telescope, communicate with the telescopes in Hawaii to take the images and then process and evaluate the images using sophisticated image processing software. Guidance will of course be available!

All society members are invited this meeting to get involved as fully as their confidence permits! After-all how often do you get an opportunity to use a professional 2m telescope 10,000 feet up a volcano in Hawaii?
