MEETING REPORT: WEDNESDAY 5th JANUARY 2005
This was an informal meeting at the St. Michaels Hotel where members were invited to bring along ideas and contributions; presentations were informal.

Orion - Robin Waddling
The evening started with a short presentation by Robin Waddling giving an overview of the constellation of Orion. It's worth remembering that the light left Rigel when Robin Hood was in Sherwood Forest - so great are the distances. Robin also showed members how to quickly construct a 3D model of a constellation, showing the distribution in space of the major stars.

Three Dimensional Constellation - Lesley Milner
Lesley Milner got us very active by getting us build a 3D model of the constellation of Ursa Major. This was great fun and very informative.

Orion in the Southern Hemisphere - Robin Hughes
Finally Robin Hughes demonstrated our planetarium software answering a question that the other Robin had posed in his talk. 'Which way up does Orion appear to observers in Australia?'. Robin Hughes was able to set our observing position to Sydney to answer the question.
