MEETING REPORT: THURSDAY 21th JULY 2005
Extra-Solar Planets - Lesley Milner
Lesley demonstrated the on-line Extra-solar Planets Encyclopaedia which led to much discussion. This site is well worth a visit. There is a great deal of technical data.

Particle Physics - Bill Barlow
Bill gave a brief overview of this topic reminding us of the four forces of nature: gravity, electromagnetism, the strong and the weak force. He went on to provide a concise classification of the various particles reminding us that without matter we would not be able to detect any radiation. In the early history of the universe before the epoch of recombination, matter would not have existed. If you want to read up on particle physics the York University website is a good starting point. The material presented here is very accessible and well organised.
