This was the only meeting this month as snow had led to the cancellation of the Wednesday meeting.
Saturn - Robin Hughes Robin has captured the Encke division, in Saturn's A ring, in his latest image of the planet. This may be viewed in our gallery and will also feature in our April edition of EROS.
FTN March 2006 - Brian Thomas Brian reviewed the planned observation session for 27/3/06. Details are in our Members Area. The barred spiral galaxy ngc 4319 will be one of the three targets. The quasar MK205 is in the same field of view. Brian gave a brief overview of the ideas of Harlton Arp, concerning the vastly different redshift values of these objects that appear to be 'linked'. This linkage now appears to be fairly well discredited. Although images from the internet can be enhanced to show a light bridge! Brian than went on talk about Stephan's Quintet which may well be an autumn target for the society.
Astronomy Round-Up - Brian Thomas Brian reviewed various items in the news. These included the Google Mars website and the discovery of water on Enceladus.
WCAS Lunar 100 - Robin Waddling Robin reported that he had been able to add the walled plain Posidonius (No 20), the volcanic domes of Arago (No 32), the Serpentine Ridge (No 33) and the ghost crater Lamont (No 53) to our lunar log. This may be accessed from our Gallery page. More images are awaited! Since we started this project last November, society members have captured images of twenty six of the lunar features.
